I followed the recipes and fitness guidelines and lost a lot of pounds but the reality is that his guidelines are pretty much ' don't eat' So this is not long-term and I can't eat boiled eggs everyday It works if you want a big fast jump to motivate you. After trying various diets, I wanted to do something that would have lasting results AND work fast. Kirsch tell the truth about his diet, and keeps his promises on results. I highly recommend his eating plan if you want to lose weight fast. This book outlines an 8 week program, where the average caloric intake is about calories per day. Those calories are very much skewed towards lean proteins and veggies. In the "less restrictive" phases of the diet, small amounts of certain fruits and grains are added. I suspect that someone who can keep to under calories per day for 8 weeks is not going to need to shell out 15 to 25 bucks for this book. I also question the safety of eating under 1, calories per day there is no allowance made for gender or activity level. In addition to eating only about calories per day, the author recommends a fairly intense weight training and cardio interval program. Now where does the "sensible" come in? I just eat an egg white omelet with mushrooms for breakfast with a vitamin gummy , have 20 almonds between that time and lunch, then I have a protein shake and a fruit for lunch I know you aren't supposed to have fruit but your body needs sugar then I work out on the elliptical machine for 15 minutes then take an hour break then go back and do another 15 minutes on the elliptical and then I go home and eat a lean fish salmon,tuna,cod and a salad for dinner. In just the first 3 days I lost 4 Lbs.! That's more than I bargained for and from the day I started to today I lost 10 Lbs.!
